Missionary Parish Symposium
“Go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” – Matthew 28:19-20
The Symposium gathered some 400 clergy and lay leaders from across the Archdiocese. Through Cardinal William Goh’s keynote, real-life parish stories and guided discussions with a locally-developed Missionary Parish Framework, participants gained clarity, inspiration and practical tools to move our parishes from maintenance to mission.
Resources
In his keynote address, Cardinal William Goh, Archbishop of Singapore, called for all parishes to undergo pastoral conversion of their parish communities so that they can be in service of the evangelising mission of the Church. He reminded that the Church is missionary in Her nature, and She exists to evangelise. Thus, all initiatives must flow from this Truth, and parishes are challenged to move from being merely maintenance-oriented to being intentionally missionary.
Whether or not you were able to join us at the Symposium, we hope these resources would be beneficial in giving you clarity on what it means to be a missionary parish, why it matters, and how our parishes can go about it.
