Mission is Community in Action
Mission is Community in Action is a four-session reflection booklet that explores how Christian mission begins within community and finds expression through everyday acts of witness, service, and accompaniment.
Produced in 2019 in response to Pope Francis’ call for October to be observed as an Extraordinary Mission Month, the booklet was created to help Catholics rediscover their missionary identity and recognise that sharing the Gospel is the responsibility of every baptised person. While the context of its publication was a special year of missionary focus, its message remains just as relevant today.
Many people around us continue to search for meaning, hope, belonging, and purpose—often without realising that what they are ultimately seeking is an encounter with Jesus Christ. As disciples, we are called not to keep the faith to ourselves, but to make Christ known through the way we live, love, and journey with others.
Suitable for families, RCIA groups, parish ministries, Small Christian Communities (SCCs), Neighbourhood Christian Communities (NCCs), and personal reflection, each session combines Scripture, prayer, discussion, and practical action to help participants grow in faith and missionary awareness together.
Through these reflections, participants are invited to:
- Deepen their relationship with Christ and His Word.
- Strengthen bonds within their faith communities.
- Recognise opportunities to share the Gospel in daily life.
Take concrete steps towards becoming missionary disciples.
Inspired by the conviction that “Jesus is for everyone”, this resource reminds us that mission is not simply a programme or activity, but a way of life lived in communion with others. As the Church continues her call to evangelisation today, Mission is Community in Action offers a timely invitation to reflect, pray, and respond to Christ’s command to “go and make disciples of all nations.”
