Missionary Parish Symposium
“Go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” – Matthew 28:19-20
This Symposium advances the work of our Archdiocesan Assembly, furthering our mission to empower parishes. It equips clergy and lay leaders for future challenges by bringing core parish teams together. This shared learning fosters mutual understanding, aligns mindsets, and creates the clarity essential for driving the parish forward.
Our Parish: The Cornerstone of Mission
The pilgrim Church is missionary by her very nature (Ad Gentes 2). She exists to evangelise, and parishes as the “indispensable organism of primary importance in the visible structure of the Church” are called to undertake the urgent task to move beyond maintenance into mission. This symposium will support our parish’s journey by offering:
Clarity of Vision
Hear from Cardinal William Goh on what it means to be a missionary parish and why it matters.
Real-Life Examples
Be inspired by parishes that have taken concrete steps towards missionary renewal and learn from their experiences.
A Clear Path Forward
Discover a locally-developed Missionary Parish Framework and participate in guided discussions with your teams tailored for parish application.
Invitation to participation
Participation in this Symposium is by invitation only. Each parish, through its parish priest, is invited to bring a core team of up to 20 leaders responsible for guiding the parish’s pastoral and missionary focus. Invited attendees include parish priests, assistant priests, pastoral coordinators, PPC members, ExCo members, youth leaders, and other essential ministry and community leaders.
